JESUS WAS SEEN BY WITNESSESThe Specimens of the Brand New Race, the Church

1 Corinthians 15:5-8

Acts 1:1-9 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth... (v8)

1 Corinthians 15:3-8 “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.”

Who is a Witness?
One who was present at the scene.

Who is a Spiritual Witness?
A spiritual witness may or may not be there physically but he must be there spiritually. If you were there as a physical witness but without a spiritual revelation to see, then you are not Jesus' witness. (1 Corinthians 15:8)

Peter was present physically and spiritually - He was a witness.
Judas was present physically but absent spiritually - He was not a witness.
Paul was absent physically but present spiritually (v8-9) - He was a witness.

Have you seen Jesus spiritually?
Are you a witness of His life, His death, His resurrection, His ascension?

If YES, then you are ready also to witness His return to take His own to heaven. (Acts 1:10-11)

  • Lord, make me Your witness. Open my eyes to see You in Your life (as carrier of the Father), Your death (as my death), Your burial (as my de-clutter from sin and its habits), Your resurrection (as my resurrection), Your ascension and glorification (as my inauguration into the new specie).
  • Lord Jesus, be glorified in me.
  • Make me a JESUS in disguise, a JESUS with human skin on. Thank YOU!
  • From now on let me not know Jesus or any man after the flesh, i.e. let me not just be a Christian by mouth or name or activity. Don't let me just follow motions of religion while spiritually bankrupt, like Judas Iscariot. Take me beyond the physical. Rescue me quickly please, LORD.

If I have not first witnessed Jesus in my life as a specimen, then I cannot witness Him successfully to others. I cannot show people what I have not seen. I will be a gossip not a witness.

If I waste my life seeing many things and many people and I don't see Jesus, I have lost it. I won't be counted as part of His witnesses, His body/His Church.

Some see angels,
Some see ministry,
Some see the pastor / the man of God / the discipler,
Some see brethren.

I MUST SEE JESUS! I must be HIS COMMITTED WITNESS!

Be My Witness

1 Corinthians 15:5-8

2 Timothy 2:19 “Nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Matthew 13:24-30  Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.”

Are you a tare growing among the wheat? Does God know you? Is He your Witness?

Ananias and Saphira - tares among the wheat of the 1st Church. (Acts 5)
Some men who crept in unawares to deceive. (Jude 1:4)
Christians by mouth or activity, not disciples. (Romans 2:29; 1 & 2 Corinthians)

  • Lord, please make me Your witness. Also, please be my Witness that I am a member of Your new specie. Let me not just be a member of a physical Church like the sinners in the Corinthian Church. Make me a member of Your body, Your invisible Church. Confirm my life exchange and let my calling and election be made sure. (Acts 9:3-5)
  • Deliver me from the spirit of the ‘tare’ growing comfortably among the ‘wheat’. Don't let me be disappointed on the final day when You will separate between the ‘tares’ and Your ‘wheat’. Help me quickly, while there is time.
  • Make me a confirmed member of Your Church - born again by life exchange, and growing in discipleship. Count me among Your Church.

“I AM JESUS”
(Acts 9. Tune: Lead Us Heavenly Father)

1. Stephen one of seven deacons,
Served his Master to the end.
Spoke the Word with grace and boldness,
Brought out to be stoned to death.
Looking up saw heaven open,
To receive him Jesus stood.

2. Saul of Tarsus breathing threatening,
With permission, murderous zeal.
On his way to get the Christians,
Bound, imprisoned, tortured, killed.
Full of power what could go wrong?
“Oh Damascus here I come!”

3. Blinding light came down from heaven,
Frightened Saul from chariot fell.
“Saul Saul” came the voice from heaven,
“Why persecutest thou Me?
I AM JESUS, Christ, Messiah,
Hard to kick against the pricks.”

4. Ananias Christ’s disciple,
In a vision heard his Lord.
“Rise up, go to Saul of Tarsus,
Lay your hand upon his head.
He’s My chosen vessel, praying,
Will be told what he MUST do.”

5. Help us Master Jesus help us,
Make us Thy disciples too.
Call us, trim us, shake us, make us,
Tell us too what we MUST do.
And of us like them before us,
“I AM JESUS” Thou wouldst say.
